Vietnam has quietly become one of Asia's most exciting golf destinations. Championship courses carved into coastal cliffs, jungle highlands, and river deltas — often at green fees that are 30–50% lower than comparable layouts in Australia or the UK. Add attentive caddies, warm hospitality, and some of the world's most vivid street-food culture, and it is easy to understand why more golfers are choosing Vietnam over Thailand, Bali, or Phuket for their next international trip.
This guide covers everything you need to plan a Vietnam golf tour in 2026: the best courses, green fee comparisons, seasonal timing, what to expect on the ground, and how CGE Golf can take care of every detail so you can focus entirely on your game.

Ba Na Hills Golf Course Hole 10 - @CGE Golf
Vietnam's course portfolio has grown rapidly over the past decade, with several layouts now ranking among Asia's finest. Below is a breakdown of the standout venues by region.
Montgomerie Links Vietnam is the flagship course of the central coast. Designed by Colin Montgomerie and Ross McMurdo, it stretches along the South China Sea with ocean views from almost every hole. The fairways are generous but the coastal wind demands accuracy, particularly on the back nine. Green fees range from approximately USD $75–$140 depending on season and tee time.
Ba Na Hills Golf Club sits in the highlands above Da Nang at an elevation that brings noticeably cooler temperatures — a welcome relief compared to the coastal humidity. Ranked consistently among the top 10 courses in Asia by Golf Digest Asia, the course features dramatic elevation changes, immaculate bermuda greens, and a backdrop of mist-covered hills. Green fees: approximately USD $90–$160.
Danang Golf Club (formerly known as BRG Da Nang Golf Resort) is a links-style layout designed by Greg Norman. A reliable choice for golfers who enjoy fast, firm playing conditions with sea views. Green fees: approximately USD $70–$130.
Hoiana Shores Golf Club, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., is the newest marquee course in Vietnam and arguably the most scenic. Located on a peninsula just 30 minutes from Hoi An's ancient town, it features wide fairways, dramatic dunes, and direct ocean frontage on multiple holes. It opened to international visitors in 2020 and has rapidly built a strong reputation. Green fees: approximately USD $120–$180.
The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip sits on the coast southeast of Ho Chi Minh City and is widely regarded as Vietnam's most challenging layout. Designed by Greg Norman and perched on dramatic red sandstone cliffs above the South China Sea, it tests every club in the bag with windswept greens and narrow corridors. It ranked No. 1 in Vietnam and top 25 in Asia on multiple rankings. Green fees: approximately USD $100–$170.
BRG Kings Island Golf Resort (Hanoi) offers 54 holes across two courses — the Island Course and the Lake Course — set on a reservoir northwest of Hanoi. Designed by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley, it is the most popular golf destination for visitors to the capital. Green fees: approximately USD $60–$110.
Van Tri Golf Club (Hanoi) is a more accessible option closer to the city centre, well-suited to golfers who want a round before or after sightseeing in the Old Quarter. Green fees: approximately USD $50–$80.

Legend Danang Golf Resort in Vietnam - @CGE Golf
Da Nang is Vietnam's most golf-dense city, with five championship courses within a 45-minute drive. The city itself has a modern international airport with direct connections from Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and several Chinese and Korean cities. The beachfront strip along My Khe Beach is lined with five-star resorts — Fusion Maia, Hyatt Regency, and InterContinental are all popular with golf travellers. A 4–5 night Da Nang golf itinerary can comfortably include three to four rounds without a single repeat course.
CGE Golf tip: Pair a Da Nang stay with a day trip to Hoi An's ancient town — just 30 minutes south — for an evening walk through the lantern-lit streets.

Hoiana Shores is a standalone destination in its own right. The Hoiana resort complex includes multiple hotels (the Rosewood Hoiana anchors the luxury end), a casino, beach club, and direct access to the course. Basing yourself here for 3–4 nights means golf in the morning, then afternoons exploring Hoi An's UNESCO-listed old town — one of the most well-preserved merchant ports in Southeast Asia.
Hoi An suits golfers who want a more relaxed pace combined with serious golf. It does not have the course density of Da Nang but the quality of Hoiana Shores is exceptional.
The Bluffs Ho Tram is roughly a 2.5-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, or accessible by helicopter transfer for those who prefer to arrive in style. The Bluffs is the entire draw here — there are not multiple courses nearby — so Ho Tram suits golfers who want to play the country's top-ranked layout in a resort setting, then spend a day or two in Ho Chi Minh City for food, history, and shopping. The Grand Ho Tram Strip resort provides luxury accommodation directly on site.

Hanoi's golf scene is more understated than Da Nang's, but BRG Kings Island is a genuine 36-hole destination that rewards a proper visit. Hanoi itself is extraordinary — the Old Quarter's labyrinthine streets, Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature, and the city's café culture make for some of the richest non-golf days on any Vietnam itinerary. A Hanoi golf trip typically pairs 2 rounds at BRG Kings Island with 2–3 days of city exploration.
Vietnam is a long, narrow country spanning multiple climate zones, which means the ideal travel window varies significantly by region. Here are the key seasonal considerations.
▪️ Da Nang/ Hoi An: Cooler, some rain
▪️ Ho Tram/ South: Dry, excellent
▪️ Hanoi/ North: Cool, some fog
▪️ Da Nang/ Hoi An: Ideal — dry, warm
▪️ Ho Tram/ South: Excellent
▪️ Hanoi/ North: Warming, pleasant
▪️ Da Nang/ Hoi An: Hot but dry
▪️ Ho Tram/ South: Hot, occasional rain
▪️ Hanoi/ North: Hot & humid
▪️ Da Nang/ Hoi An: Typhoon risk, rain
▪️ Ho Tram/ South: Good
▪️ Hanoi/ North: Cooler, excellent
▪️ Da Nang/ Hoi An: Rainy season
▪️ Ho Tram/ South: Dry, good
▪️ Hanoi/ North: Cool, some drizzle
👉 Best overall window: March to May gives the widest coverage across all regions — dry conditions in Da Nang, ideal temperatures on the central coast, and comfortable mornings in Hanoi. September to November is a strong second choice, particularly for Ho Tram and the south.
CGE Golf monitors regional forecasts and advises on the optimal window for your specific itinerary, balancing weather, pricing, and course availability.

Caddies are assigned automatically at virtually every course in Vietnam — you will not carry your own bag. They read greens, clean clubs, advise on wind, and carry local course knowledge that is genuinely useful on unfamiliar layouts. Treat your caddie well: a tip of ₫200,000–₫400,000 (approximately USD $8–$16) is the standard expectation and is a meaningful contribution to their income.
Collared polo shirts and tailored shorts or trousers are required at all courses. Denim, cargo shorts, round-neck T-shirts, and sleeveless shirts are not permitted. Some of the more prestigious venues (Hoiana Shores, Ba Na Hills) are particularly strict. Pack 2–3 quality golf shirts per 5-round itinerary — Vietnam's heat means you will want a fresh shirt each round.
Pace of play is generally good at most courses. Early morning tee times (7:00–8:30am) are strongly recommended — not only is it cooler, but you will typically have the course to yourselves. By mid-morning, humidity and heat become significant factors, particularly in the south.
Most courses offer both carts and walking (with your caddie). Walking with a caddie is the authentic experience and recommended for courses with interesting terrain like Ba Na Hills or The Bluffs. For the coastal flatlands (Montgomerie Links, Danang Golf Club), a cart is a reasonable choice in peak summer heat.
Have lunch with Vietnamese traditonal dishes - @CGE Golf
Vietnam golf holidays are as much about what happens off the course as on it. CGE Golf weaves cultural encounters into every itinerary for guests who want a fuller picture of the country.
Street food tours in Hanoi's Old Quarter — sampling pho bo, bun cha, and egg coffee at hole-in-the-wall restaurants that have been serving the same dishes for generations. A good street food guide makes the difference between a great experience and an overwhelming one; CGE Golf can arrange private evening tours.
Lantern-making workshops in Hoi An — the ancient town comes alive at night when thousands of silk lanterns light the riverfront. Joining a 90-minute lantern-making class is a tactile and memorable way to engage with local craft traditions.
Private cooking classes — Vietnamese cuisine is among the most herb-forward, fresh, and accessible in Asia. Half-day cooking classes hosted by local chefs, typically starting with a market visit, are a highlight for many guests.
Boat trips on the Thu Bon River — a slow sunset cruise from Hoi An into the countryside, with traditional music and lanterns drifting on the water, is an experience that contrasts completely with the energy of a morning tee time.
Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta — for guests combining Ho Tram with Ho Chi Minh City, a day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels or a river cruise through the Mekong Delta adds historical and natural depth to what would otherwise be a pure golf trip.
Tan Son Nhat Golf Course, Ho Chi Minh City - @CGE Golf
Vietnam rewards golfers who plan well and arrive curious — curious about the courses, the culture, the food, and the people. The fairways are world-class. The caddies are excellent. And the moments between rounds — a bowl of pho at dawn, a lantern floating downriver, the old town of Hoi An glowing at dusk — are the things you will still be talking about long after the scorecards are forgotten.
