Planning a golf holiday in the "Land of Smiles" is one of the most exciting ventures a golfer can undertake. Thailand boasts world-class championship courses, breathtaking landscapes, and unparalleled hospitality. However, the tropical climate, high humidity, and unique local golf culture mean that packing for a Thai golf trip is vastly different from packing for a weekend round back home or a trip to Europe.
Failing to pack the right gear can leave you drenched in sweat, battling sunburn, or worse—facing steep fees at the pro shop for missing dress-code essentials.
To ensure you stay comfortable, focused, and playing your best from the first tee to the 18th green, we have put together the ultimate Thailand Golf Tour Packing Checklist.
Thailand is hot and humid year-round, with temperatures frequently soaring above 30°C (86°F). Your standard cotton polo shirts simply won't cut it here.
Pack high-performance, lightweight, and moisture-wicking polo shirts. Look for fabrics with UV protection and quick-dry technology.
Pro-Tip: Pack one polo for each scheduled round, plus two extra shirts. You will sweat through your morning round, and having a fresh shirt to change into for lunch or the afternoon commute is a game-changer.
Thai golf courses strictly enforce a traditional dress code.
▪️ What is allowed: Tailored golf shorts (knee-length) or lightweight golf trousers with belt loops.
▪️ What is strictly forbidden: Cargo shorts, denim, tracksuits, gym shorts, and swimwear.
You will be spending hours on damp morning grass or navigating occasional tropical afternoon showers.
▪️ Bring breathable, water-resistant golf shoes (soft spikes or spikeless are both widely accepted).
▪️ CGE Golf Insider Advice: If you are playing consecutive days, bring two pairs of shoes and alternate them. This gives each pair 24 hours to completely dry out and air out, preventing blisters and odors.
▪️ Pack plenty of moisture-wicking, low-cut athletic socks.

Your clubs are your most valuable assets on this trip. Getting them to Thailand safely—and keeping your bag stocked—requires strategic packing.
A damaged driver head can ruin your entire holiday before it even begins. Follow this quick routine when packing your travel bag:
▪️ Remove the heads of your adjustable woods and drivers. Put them in their headcovers and pack them securely inside your checked luggage or carry-on.
▪️ Use a Support Arm: Invest in a rigid travel support arm (like a Stiff Arm) that extends longer than your longest club to absorb any vertical impact if the bag is dropped by baggage handlers.
▪️ Weave a towel through your irons to prevent them from clattering and scratching each other during transit.
While you can buy golf balls at any clubhouse in Thailand, pro shop prices are heavily marked up due to import taxes.
▪️ Pack 1 to 2 dozen of your favorite golf balls in your checked luggage. Thai courses are famously beautiful but feature numerous water hazards and dense jungle borders. If you have a tendency to slice, pack a few extra.
▪️ Bring a generous handful of your preferred tees, a divot tool, and a ball marker.
In the intense Thai humidity, your hands will sweat, causing leather gloves to become slick and saturated quickly. Pack at least 3 to 4 golf gloves. Hang the wet ones on the canopy of your golf cart during the round to dry while you rotate to a fresh, dry one.

The tropical sun in Southeast Asia is unforgiving. Heat exhaustion can creep up rapidly, severely impacting your back-nine performance.
▪️ Sunscreen: Protects against intense UV rays during a 4-hour round.
▪️ Polarized Sunglasses: Reduces glare off the bright fairways and water hazards, saving you from eye strain.
▪️ Golf Umbrella: Crucial for creating your own shade on wide-open, sun-drenched fairways.
▪️ Cooling Towel: Keeping this damp around your neck instantly drops your core body temperature.
These are the small items that separate seasoned golf travelers from first-timers.
▪️ Electrolyte Powders/Tablets: Drinking pure water isn't enough when you are sweating continuously for four hours. Drop an electrolyte tablet into your water bottle on the 1st and 10th tees to ward off cramping and dehydration headaches.
▪️ Insect Repellent: Many of Thailand's finest courses are carved out of lush jungles or sit adjacent to pristine lakes. As the afternoon cools down, the mosquitoes come out. Opt for a DEET-free, non-greasy formula; heavy DEET can melt the rubber grips right off your golf clubs.
▪️ A Fresh Change of Clothes (Clubhouse Culture): In Thailand, the post-round experience is a highly respected ritual. Thai clubhouses feature luxurious, pristine locker rooms. It is a local custom to take a refreshing shower, change into a clean, smart-casual outfit, and enjoy a cold drink or a delicious Thai meal at the clubhouse restaurant with your group. Do not walk straight from the 18th green to the dinner table in your sweaty golf gear.
